미국 건국의 아버지. 미국 독립전쟁 당시 매우 활발하게 참여하였다. 독립전쟁 당시 토머스 페인과 같은 명언제조기로서 미국 식민지인들에게 의지를 주는데 큰 기여를 하였다.
보스턴을 기반으로 하는 유명 맥주 새뮤얼 애덤스가 바로 이사람의 이름을 따왔으며, 기록에 의하면 새뮤얼 애덤스는 가업을 물려받아 맥아 제조업체 혹은 양조 사업체를 소유한 적이 있다.
